A celebration of life service will be held at First Methodist Church, Temple, on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026 at 11:00AM with Pastor Scott Goodfellow officiating.
Mrs. Nolen died October 3, 2026 in Temple at the age of 97.
Jean was born February 9, 1929 in Dallas Texas to William Franklin and Fay Metcalf Davis. She attended Dallas schools and graduated from W. H. Adamson High School in 1946. After attending business college, she worked for insurance agencies for several years.
Jean married Gordon Randolph Nolen on January 26, 1951. They lived in Dallas and Garland Texas until 1963 when they moved to Washington, D.C. for 5 years. They transferred back to Texas in 1968 and moved to Temple. Jean lived in Temple for 58 years.
Jean was a sincere Methodist her whole life. She became a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in 1968, now First Methodist Church Temple. She was a member of United Methodist Women and held many different offices of this organization through the years.
Jean was also a member and held offices in Church Women of Temple, Temple Garden Club, NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees), Extension Education Association and served on the board of the Youth Services Bureau.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Fay, her husband Gordon who died in 1988, sister Pat Davis Campbell and brothers Hugh Frank Davis and Charles Hilton Davis.
She is survived by her sons Randy and wife Jan of Mt. Pleasant, SC., Brian and wife Jan of Clarksville, TX, 4 grandchildren: Michael, Kaleigh, Kelsey and Sean Nolen, 2 step grandchildren: Patrick Drake and wife Erika, and Phillip Drake, 3 step great grandchildren: Sophia, Maya and Elliot Drake, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the First Methodist Church of Temple, TX or your charity of choice in honor of Jean Nolen.
