Doris was instantly loved by everyone who met her. She was a wonderful, caring, beautiful woman who enjoyed life to the fullest, and her presence blessed many lives. Doris graduated from Mission High School in 1957. She began her career at Commercial Credit Corporation in 1958, where she met her husband, James. They were married on Sept. 4, 1959. During her tenure at CCC, Doris also made many lifelong friendships. Doris will be remembered for being an excellent homemaker, seamstress, and enjoying any type of arts and crafts. She and her husband Jim enjoyed countless hours of refinishing and reupholstering furniture. She enjoyed clipping coupons and challenging anyone to save more than she could. She was also an avid sports fan, especially of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks.
Doris was a devout Catholic. Most admirable was her faith and devotion to some of her favorite prayers, especially the prayer of St. Francis which helped in her most difficult times with her illness. She was truly a child of God. Her poised persona and kindness to others were always present, even when she was in pain. The kindness in her eyes is an image that will remain in our memories forever. Her undivided attention to others, her wit and sense of humor were always highlights of visiting with her. She was in inspiration to all. Even as her own condition declined over the years, her love and attention to her children and grandchildren was her constant focus. Each child and grandchild was special, appreciated and loved. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Alice Gawlik, her sisters, Marjorie Brewer, Mary Kleinhans, and Carol Davenport, sister in law, Dominique Gawlik.
