Doris Denise Taylor (Necie) was one of nine born on April 8, 1955 in Dallas Texas to Alma L. Jackson and Joseph Thompson. Doris accepted Christ at Greater New Zion Baptist Church at an early age, raised in Sunny South Dallas. She is preceded in death by her late husband Thomas Taylor, parents Alma L. Jackson and Joseph Thompson, sister Mary Staley, her youngest brother Arthur Jackson, and her nieces Rhonda Andrews, and T’Mone Michelle Williams.
She had a close bond with all of her sisters and brothers Mary Staley, Joyce Andrews, Linda Calloway, Brenda Jackson (Tommy Lee Jackson), Carolyn Jackson-Boatwright, Alma Jo Anderson (Edwin Anderson), Willie Earl Jackson ( Mary Craddock), and Arthur Dewayne Jackson. Doris graduated from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas Texas 1973.
Doris has 4 loving children who cherished her deeply: Cartriese Harrison, John Smith Jr., Cartina Smith (Diante Smith), Demetriese Smith (Raphael Davis). This includes 10 beautiful grand kids Dontrai Pickett, Alicia Pickett, Kysharia Martin, Simeon Smith, Michael Garcia II, Montieno Cherry, Michayla Garcia, Mericle Epps, King Alexander Smith, Amari-Smith Monroe. 5 great-grand kids Jaedon Pickett, Taevyn Pickett, Ty ’Quell Pickett, Laykin Franklin and Chase Franklin.
Doris has an abundance of nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved with every part of her being she cherished each and everyone of them they all had a very special place within her heart, as well as very close friends. Every visit meant something sweet waiting, often her cakes with just the right icing. Her love was felt in the little things and the big moments alike.
Doris found joy working at SMU in 1976 working in the cafeteria as a host. She then found a new found love working for DISD in -2011 in which she retired as a craftsman which made every color her favorite color.
After a long and courageous fight, her journey has come to rest. She was a woman of extraordinary strength, grace, and unconditional love — the steady sun that gave strength, the guiding light that showed the way, and the warm embrace that wrapped her family in devotion. Humble, kind, and nurturing, she welcomed everyone with a radiant smile and a heart full of care.
Doris was the life of every room, filling it with laughter, warmth, and joy. She loved cooking, singing, dancing — especially her famous robot — skating, traveling to one of her more special places she visited Germany, as well as opening her home to all.
As a devoted mother, fierce protector, and personal cheerleader, she stood firmly in our corner. As her only son, I will forever cherish our early morning phone calls — sometimes just to laugh or talk about the world — her way of checking on me and strengthening our bond. Even when life felt heavy, she was the voice of peace, the guidance I needed, and the call that brought comfort.
Her laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love are treasures we hold in our hearts. Though she is deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the strength she gave us and the love that will carry us forward. We love you forever, Mom — until we meet again. Dee Dee's girly girl 💞 Triesey Triesey, Trina mama, Junior Booma.
