

Doris Marie Toleston was born on October 24, 1938 in Waxahachie, TX to the parents of J.B. and Alvania Sandles. She attended Lincoln High School in Dallas, TX. After graduation, she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she resided for several years. She later moved back to Dallas where she met and married Jimmy L. Toleston on November 29, 1963. To this union two children were born. Doris confessed Christ at an early age and united with Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. L.R. Lockridge and the late Rev. C.B.T. Smith where she served in many ministries. She later joined the Greater Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fabian K. Jacko where she served faithfully until her death. Her ministries included the Esther Circle, Choir, Senior Citizen Ministry and the Food Program. She was also active in the Women of Courage Widow Support Group and the YMCA exercise program. Doris was a devoted mother, especially to her daughter, Tara. If there was any event Tara wanted to be a part of, Doris made every effort to make it happen. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy L. Toleston and parents J.B. and Alvania Sandles. She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Tara Toleston, son, Tyron Toleston, step-son, Jimmy Toleston Jr., sister, Gloria Washington (Paul), brother, J.B. Sandles Jr. (Charles Ann) and a host of nieces, nephews and others relatives and friends.
