Dorothy was a friend of my sister’s.  Dorothy had this amazing habit of including/involving/inviting anyone who met her into her world.  Funny, insightful, hysterical, cynical, charming, helpful, thoughtful, and did I mention funny?  A laugh for the ages.  She could turn the most bizarre and random situations into a springboard for her take on things, which often left those of us who were listening in side splitting hysterics.  

I haven’t seen her in many, many years.  I miss her laugh and her wonderful smile. 

I’m glad she is at peace now.

Dorothy was a very precious friend to me.  She was the kindest soul with a heart of gold and would do anything in the world for you.  I couldn’t have asked for a better friend.  Be at peace.

My deepest condolences to the Buckley family. Dorothy was a beautiful person. A small body with a Big heart.  She was one of a Kind, a straight shooter who always  told it like it is.   Dorothy may your soul rest in peace, my friend.

I look forward to having lunch with Dorothy.  She always had a twinkle in her eye and you knew she was going to tell a funny story.

Here we are out and about in Chicago.  I think we sampled every pizza place.  We were there a long time.

Dorothy had a huge heart.  Once, my husband and I attended a Steelers game on Christmas Eve in Houston.   I had no idea that a city the size of Houston would roll up its sidewalks on Christmas Eve.  I’ve lived and worked in NY, NJ and Las Vegas…..none of these places shut down so what do I know.  

Dorothy drove all the way from Dallas just to see us.  After the game, we were all starving.  We drove from restaurant to restaurant looking for food.  Every restaurant that Dorothy expected to be open wasn’t or there was a line of a hundred people waiting to get in.  Steelers fans were everywhere.  Finally, we came across a Greek restaurant.  Though the line wrapped around the block, we somehow managed to wheedle our way in.  We sat at the bar and ordered moussaka.  Nope all out.  Next dish, all out and so on.  An employee finally suggested scrambled eggs.  We jumped on it.  Scrambled eggs on Christmas Eve, but that’s the way it was with us.  Stories that could only happen to Dorothy and Susan.    

I am sure going to miss our long conversations and the laughs.  Dorothy was such a good friend to many.

Dorothy, sweet Dorothy. So honored to have had you over these last 14 years. Will miss your wit, your erudite take on just about any topic (so brilliant), and your strength. May you rest in peace in the light of the Lord, sweet friend. The world is a little darker without your light. And to the Buckley family, prayers and comfort on such a great loss.

I will never drink tequila without winking in your memory, our last girls night when we watched Moonstruck, will always make me smile. Only you would pick me with my pup Petunia from the airport and take us to a dog park for lunch. When I called my daughter Aly to give her the news, she corrected me and replied, “our friend Dorothy.”  I’m a more worldly person because of your sage advice. Thank you for your love and support.
