Mrs. Dorothy L. (Campbell) Hampton, age 91, of Desoto, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020. Dorothy was born October 17, 1929 in Oakwood, Texas. She was the youngest of two daughters. Dorothy received her formal education and graduated high school in 1946. Later, Dorothy attended Prairie View A&M University where she graduated with honors.
In the 1950, Dorothy moved to California and met and married Mr. Alfred Hampton. They were married for a short amount of time. She worked for the United States Postal Service in Los Angeles County for several years. In 1963, Dorothy became a probation officer for Los Angeles County (State of California) and remained there until her retirement in December 1993.
Upon her relocation back to Texas, Dorothy united with the Freedom Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas under the leadership of Dr. Mack T. Flemming, Sr. She served as deaconess and remained a faithful member until her health failed.
Dorothy is preceded by both of her parents, Troy and Nellie Bell Campbell; her sister, Hortense Phillo and other relatives. She leaves to cherished her memories and legacy, her loving children, Rhonda Campbell, Albert Brooks, Jr. and Sherrie Ann Shupe; her grandchildren, Siobhan Elise Shupe and Anton Paul Acosta; and host of other loving relatives that will greatly missed her.
