On Thursday, September 12, 2013, after spending so much of her life presenting and preserving treasures for others, Dallas lost one of it greatest treasures in Dorothy Juanell Thomas. In support of her late husband, James “Jerry” Thomas, a noted Gemologist and Executive with the Zale Corporation, Dorothy pursued her interest in the fine jewelry business, mostly as a forty-four year resident of Dallas. Born in Mangum, Oklahoma on August 30, 1931, as the oldest of eight children of Herman and Nell Meason, Dorothy lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, during her high school days. She moved to Oklahoma City, then to Memphis, Tennessee, and finally to Los Angeles, before settling in Dallas with her late husband in 1969.
Dorothy enjoyed her work as a Realtor/Broker for many years with the Ebby Halliday Organization. She also “treasured” the many friends that her work brought her and was very active in nurturing these friendships. They meant so much to her. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Squires Wallace, her granddaughter, Sabra Wallace Chavez, her great grandchildren, Brayden and Kalee, as well as sisters Glenda Kramer and Brenda Wilke and brothers Bob Meason and Larry Meason. She was pre-deceased by husband, Jerry Thomas, sister, Mary Meason and brothers Wayne Meason and Sam Meason.
It will be easy to remember the grace, the charm, and the unassuming way that Dorothy had in putting you at ease and letting you know that you were important to her. It will not be easy getting used to her not being here. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Calvary Hill Funeral Home.
