Dorothy Mae Canady passed away peacefully on December 5,2014.Born on November 12,1920. She became the sixth child of Andrew and Elmira Banks. Dorothy attended public school in Fairfield,Tx. She later earned a Bachelor and Masters Degree at Texas Southern University,Houston,Tx.She taught in the public school system for thirty-three years. She was preceded in death by her husband Less Canady, parents, two sisters, three brothers and her grandson Rev. Donny Canady Dorothy Canady was independent,pillar of strength,dignity, courageous spirited and love are just a few great words to define the character of Dorothy Canady.She was a loving mother , grandmother,great-grandmother, sister and dear friend ,who will be greatly missed. She leaves to cherish her memories:daughter,Dar Less Gillespie,son,Addison Canady(Shirley),4 grandchildren;Anita (Gary) Ramon (Robin) Antonio (Melanesia) Andy (De Lois), 5 great-grandchildren; Kendra,LaTreva,LaKeisha,Melton and Madisyn and a host of relatives and friends.
