

During the throes of the Great Depression, Doug temporarily lived in St. Joseph's Orphan Asylum in Rochester, NY, until he joined his mother and step-father, Donald McIntyre, Sr., in Rochester, where Doug was raised with his three younger brothers. Doug enjoyed many wonderful childhood summers with his family in Ottawa, Canada.
Doug was a competitive athlete who lettered in high school track and basketball. After graduating from Rochester High School, Doug served several years in the United States Army. After serving his country, he enrolled at Southern Methodist University where he earned a degree in business and competed in varsity tennis and honed a life-long passion for the game.
Before graduating from SMU in 1956, he met the love of his life, Judy Thornburg McIntyre. They raised their five children in Texas, Indiana, Virginia and Georgia. Doug converted to Catholicism and with Judy ensured that all of their children had a Catholic education. He was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish of Dallas, Texas for over 40 years.
Doug had an impressive 40+ year career with the United States Federal Government, including posts with the Departments of Justice, Transportation, and Veteran Affairs. He was recognized several times over for his efficiency and integrity as regional manager of the Inspector General managing auditors in as many as 15+ states simultaneously.
Doug was a voracious reader, particularly of mysteries and espionage - never forgetting which stories he'd read even in the end. Doug loved to listen to, on the radio and watch local, collegiate, and professional sports on TV particularly basketball, football, tennis, the Olympic Games, baseball, and professional wrestling.
Doug was an avid lover of butter. His secret pleasures were secretly having Reese's peanut butter cups, Fritos, Cherry Cokes, and chocolate milk.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy, his son-in-law, Kelly Davenport, and his granddaughter, Tara Pittman. He is survived by his brothers, David (Noreen), Donald (Adalina), Dale, his children Deborah (Robert), Barbara (David), Sandra (Juan), Patricia, James (Amy), his grandchildren, Louise, Susan, Sean, Kelley, Christopher, William, Matthew, Rachael, Whitney, Peter, Henry, Anna Grace, and several great grandchildren.
