Douglas Ray Young, Age 75. He lived in Providence Village, TX and died Thursday, June 14th, 2018 in the home due to natural causes. He was with his wife and sons at the time of his passing. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK on April 29, 1943 to Pauline & William Young. He was an only child. While in high school, he was a member of the ROTC. After completing high school, he joined the United States Air Force. He completed a 4 year tour including 6 months in Vietnam. After leaving the Air Force, he married Mary Katherine Mills of Grand Prairie, TX on May 13, 1966. They moved to Dallas, TX and he began working at American Airlines until retirement. They moved to Lewisville, TX where they had two sons and then to Providence Village, TX until his passing. He enjoyed reading about history, world events, military stories especially from his father and father in law who served in WWII. He liked aviation technology. He was a member of the local chapter of Transport Workers of America union. He is survived by his wife Mary Katherine Young and his two sons David Ray Young and Jeffrey Scott Young and surviving family members including Wade Anderson, Alma Cagle and Evelyn Tanner. He is also survived by his sisters in law Vickie Dyer & Linda Wagner and her family - husband Jimmy Wagner and their children Kevin and Tonya. He will be buried with military honors at DFW National Cemetery after the funeral service. The funeral service will be laurel Land Funeral Home on Thursday, June 21st at 10am with visitation 9am. Douglas was a wonderful husband, father and son. He strived to do his best and provide for his family. He was there for his friends and served with distinction. He will always be in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
