Dr. Rebekah Elizabeth Noel, 87 and a half, reached the end of her life April 25th, in Dallas,Texas. She passed away comfortably, with her daughter and granddaughters by her side. Dr. Noel was born to Franklin and Mildred Swanner in 1935. After high school, Rebekah quickly earned her first Masters degree as a Baylor Bear. She eventually made it to Texas Woman’s University, where she earned her Doctorate in psychology. She became a dedicated educator and diagnostician working with local school districts to build special education programs and worked with students with disabilities. Dr. Noel spent her entire life continuing her own education and maintained her certifications until her passing.
She was Dr. Momo to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, which she lovingly referred to as her “greats.” She was the happiest when everyone was all together. When Dr. Noel was not spending time with her family, she was busy traveling and shopping for antiques, getting her nails painted candy apple red, at L’Image, or swimming and hanging out with her many friends. She loved God and was an active church member, she sang in the Choir, and taught Sunday school.
Dr. Rebekah Noel is preceded in death by her beloved husband James Noel, her parents, her sister Peggy Paterson, and her daughter Rebekah Ruth McGahey.
She is survived by her children Jay Miller McGahey, Andrew McGahey, and Cynthia Trowell. Her sister Katy Brown, and brother in law Bill Paterson. As well as her nine grandchildren, and her six “Greats”.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00am on May 20th at Highland Park United Methodist Church. A reception will follow immediately after in the reception hall.
A memorial service for Dr. Noel will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Highland Park United Methodist Church, located at 3300 Mockingbird Ln, Dallas, TX 75205.
