OBITUARY

EDDIE L ALLEN

January 13, 1919April 22, 2012

Eddie Lee Allen Worked for the Dallas Times Herald until retirement as a furniture artist. Her work was so good that she was asked by several furniture companies to do their ads for other newspapers and one furniture company refused to run ads in the Dallas Morning News unless she did the art work. She and her mother would take vacations to New Mexico where she loved to draw and paint the local people and their environment. When she went blind in her 60s, she had to give up her love of painting and other hand work. Very active in her church, East Minster Presbyterian, from teaching Sunday School to helping in the church office. She was active with any project the church participated in serving the community such as food or clothing drives. If the church was involved in an activity, Eddie was the one person everyone could count on to be there and give her all to make sure it was a success. She never married and spent her life taking care of her mother and her church. When she had to move to be closer to family, she still enjoyed her favorite pastor’s sermons each week when they mailed her a CD of the Sunday service. To relax she went fishing as often as possible with her mother and friends. Her favorite music was old church hymns, the Old Rugged Cross was one of her favorites.
