Eddie V. Jones, 80, passed away on July 20, 2026. Born February 6, 1946, in Butler, TX, Eddie was the first-born daughter of Lensy Shed and Mary Henderson Shed. She received her education in the Butler School District in Butler, TX, and at an early age committed her life to Christ under the late Rev. Kelly Davis of Bethel Temple COGIC. Over the last 40 years, until her transition, Mrs. Jones was a faithful member of Pathway of Life Church in Dallas, TX under the leadership of Pastor Danny Wegman. With steady dedication and a strong sense of responsibility, she built a life rooted in faith, family, and work, retiring from the Dallas Veterinary Clinic in 2016.
Eddie was preceded in death by both parents; three brothers, Burnis Shed, Emzell Shed Sr., and Joseph Don Shed Sr.; and her grandchildren, Ke'Ana Nikki Betts and LaCharles M. Betts.
Eddie is survived by her loving husband, Herbert G. Jones; her three loving children, Angela Betts-Bryant (Lewis Jr.) of Waco, TX, Charlie L. Betts Jr. (Sonya) of Garland, TX, and Stephen Craig Betts (Susan) of Seagoville, TX; and her four stepchildren, George Jones, Doris Edmond, Sheila Jones, and Reginald Jones. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Eddie is further survived by one brother, Frank L. Shed of Butler, TX; three sisters, Veetria M. Grant of Fairfield, TX, Rosie Mae Crawford of Lancaster, TX, and Malinda Scott (Curlie Scott Sr,) of Plano, TX; one uncle, Corrie Shed of Butler, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Dallas, TX 75232, on July 30, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home on July 31, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Committal Service will follow at Laurel Land Mem Park - Dallas, 6300 S. R.L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, TX 75232, on July 31, 2026, from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
