OBITUARY

Edith M Coomer

July 28, 1927October 9, 2021

Early in the morning of October 9th, 2021, Edith Athene Mouser Coomer was called into the loving arms of Jesus at the age of 94. Edith was born in Stigler, Oklahoma, on July 28, 1927, and was raised along with her 5 brothers and 2 sisters in Spade, Texas, on a cotton farm. She graduated valedictorian of her high school class in 1945 and relocated to Dallas, TX, shortly thereafter, where she met and married the only love of her life, Thomas Judson Coomer, better known to all as T. J. Together they had 5 children, Janis Gail, Thomas David, Joyce Ann, Lois Louise and Leslie Don and remained in Dallas, TX, until 1967 when T.J. suddenly passed away. She relocated her family to Plano, TX, and resided there for the last 54 years.

Edith was an intelligent and determined woman with strong Christian and family values that she instilled in her children ,who completely loved and admired her. She was able to remain in her home up to the time of her passing in the tender care of her children, especially Don ,who became her primary caretaker and treated her like the queen she was. She always had an interesting or comical quip to all she encountered and never lost the sweetness that was so adored in her by T. J. She worked for Luminator in Plano as an executive secretary for over 26 years, until her retirement in 1993. She leaves behind to hold her in their memories 4 of her children, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her sister of Chicago, Illinois, Elaine Troc, and her brother of Odessa, TX, Don Mouser.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Judson Coomer, her son Thomas David Coomer, her brothers Benjamin Neal Mouser, Lester Mouser, Leonard Mouser, Enslie Mouser and her sister Elsie Poindexter.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. There will be visitation on October 23, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home with a graveside service immediately following. Refreshments will be served at the visitation.

Sweet, dear Edith. You welcomed me into your family in 1966...when Janis brought me home with her so we could study for a debate tournament we had the next morning. ~~~You made room in your heart for me to become another "daughter" in the Coomer Clan.~~~~Once I told you that I always called you Mom2. I explained that it was Mom2 ...as in "two". You replied...."Well, Mom, TOO...also works. And, we giggled...together.~~~~~I offer this quote from Audrey Hepburn to all who loved Edith......"If you've lost someone you love very much, in the beginning you can't bear it, but as the years go by, the pain of losing them is what reminds you so vividly of them — that they were alive. ~Audrey Hepburn, 1990
