Edna Marie Piering, 95, peacefully passed away from Alzheimer’s disease, Tuesday March 25, 2014, in Dallas, Texas. She is finally reunited with her best friend and husband, Gil. Edna was born September 14, 1918 in Columbus, Wisconsin. She attended the University of Wisconsin where she met Gil. After dating for six months, they were married May 2, 1942. During the first 18 years of their marriage, Edna gave birth to 9 children, Tommy, Diane, Donna, Steve, Dave, Jerry, Larry, Kathy, and Mike. Edna will be missed, but always remembered for the person she was and who she taught her kids to be. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Diane and Jim Hardin, Donna and Randy McKane, Bobette Piering-Gross, Dave Piering and Susan Steele, Jerry and Julie Piering, Larry and Kim Piering, Kathy and Phil Kotecki, Michael Piering, 24 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lillian Kohlhaas, her husband Gilbert Piering, siblings Gibson and Betty Kohlhaas, Ruth and John Widmann, and Edward and Geraldine (Gerry) Kohlhaas, sons Thomas Piering and Stephen Piering, grandchildren Matthew McKane and Timothy Hardin and great grandchild Katlyn Osborne. Rosary will be Friday March 28, 2014, 6:00 pm, with visitation to follow at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at Calvary Hill Mausoleum North Chapel.
