

Known as Eddie by his family in his younger years and Ed in adulthood, Eduardo "Ed" Alonzo Tristan, 74, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026. Born on March 4, 1952, Ed lived a life filled with family, laughter, friendships, and a genuine love for people.
As a teenager, Ed began working in the restaurant business while also playing in a band, sharing his love of music with those around him. In his early years, he also worked as a truck driver. Over the years, he owned Chencho's Café, named after his father's nickname, co-owned a body shop, and later worked as a Special Events Coordinator. No matter where Life took him, what Ed enjoyed most was being around people.
To know Ed was to know someone who never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and had a way of making people feel like old friends within minutes. His quick wit, playful sense of humor, and endless jokes could brighten any room.
Family and friends will always remember hearing him say, "It is what it is," or his famous, "One time!"-phrases that became part of who he was and will forever bring a smile to those who loved him.
Soccer was one of Ed's greatest passions. He loved playing the game and especially enjoyed coaching his children and other family members. He also loved traveling and was proud to own racehorses, enjoying every opportunity to watch them compete. Throughout the years, Ed enjoyed collecting vintage automobiles and took great pride in restoring classic cars and entering them in local car shows. Whether talking about cars, horses, soccer, music, or life, Ed's enthusiasm was contagious.Above all else, Ed's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose children and grandchildren meant the world to him. His kind heart, generous spirit, and ability to make people laugh are the gifts he leaves behind. His family will remember him not only for the memories he created but for the way he made everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved.
Ed is survived by his former wife, Diana Houston (Bryan); his son, Eduardo Tristan Jr.; his daughter, Karissa Tristan (Tamika); his daughter-in-law, Erin Tristan, beloved wife of his late son, Jonathan Michael Tristan; his grandchildren, Deandre Rettig, Tambrisha Tristan, Jessica Calkins, Brandon Tristan, Eduardo Tristan III, Peyton Tristan, Skylar Tristan, and Taylor Tristan; his great-grandchildren, Alexander Long Jr., Mariah Tristan, Klouse, Olive, and Rhome Alonzo Tristan; his sister, Silbia Angiano; his brother, Johnny Tristan; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ascension Tristan and Cruz Alonzo Reyes; his beloved son, Jonathan Michael Tristan; his brothers, Isabel Tristan and John Tristan Jr.; and his sister, Carmen Sabedra.While Ed's family mourns his passing, they also celebrate a life filled with laughter, stories, friendships, and unforgettable moments. His legacy is not measured by the businesses he owned or the places he traveled, but by the countless people whose lives were brighter because they knew him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
