Edward was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 16, 1925, to Carman and Esterina Matza. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s Degree. Edward was married to Dolores Jean Routzahn on September 17, 1950; they were married 66 years.
Edward worked as an aeronautical engineer for Ling-Temco-Vought for more than 45 years. He enjoyed classical music, sketch art, oil painting, woodworking, and literary reading among his many interests. He was also actively involved in his Catholic faith and the Knights of Columbus.
Edward is preceded in death by his wife Dolores and daughter Phyllis Ann Stansell.
Edward is survived by sons Stephen D. Matza, Christopher (Mary Kay) Matza, daughter Theresa Matza, grandchildren Andrew (Jenni) Matza, Katie (Kevin) Leonard, Jon Michael (Hannah) Matza, Stephen E. Matza, Emily McWilliams, Lauren (Christian) Wood, great grandchildren Audrey, Harper, Declan, numerous nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends.
A funeral service officiated by Fr. George Vaniyaprackal will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas TX 75220. Committal will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edward’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Hostel in Grand Prairie, TX, Wounded Warriors, Knights of Columbus or any of the Catholic charities.
