

WORTHY, EDWARD "ED, RUSTY" -- Was born December 30, 1929, in Dallas and went to be with the Lord on August 1st, 2011. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Liz for 62 years at his side. He was predeceased by parents Edward A. and Nettie Worthy; son, Steven Worthy and daughter-in-law, Sue Worthy. He was a graduate of Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and attended SMU. Over the years Ed served in various volunteer organizations. He was chairman of the Dallas County Child Welfare Board, board member of Southeastern Methodist Hospital, board member of Commercial National Bank, The Herrin House, and The Gideons. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, Rotary, Civitan. Ed was a longtime member of Pleasant Mound United Methodist Church; a current member of White Rock United Methodist Church and The Harmony Sunday School Class. He was actively involved over the years in various committees and boards at both churches and taught Sunday School. Ed started his career forming and operating the Model Floor Company for many years. Later he became a real estate investor and developer, building apartments and residences. Upon retirement, he began performing real estate inspections. Survivors: wife, Elizabeth (Liz); sons: Wayne and wife Peggy, Gary and wife Kathy, Dennis and wife Sharon; grandchildren: Shawn, Jonathan and wife Jamie, Missy, Joshua, Lesley and husband Michael, and Kimberly and husband Gerard and six great-granddaughters. Family would like to thank special friends and caregivers, David, Rhodes, Connie Koster, and Mary Duran. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2011 in the Grove Hill Chapel. Interment to follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
