Edwin was born in Melrose, Massachusetts to Edwin Sr. and Olive Wettergreen on September 16, 1935. He graduated from Malden High School. He married Marjorie Doucette on June 8, 1958 in Malden, MA. He graduated from Johnson and Wales College in Providence, Rhode Island after which he worked as a chef for over 30 years.
He is a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a Staff Sargent He was 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was a former Grand Knight. He was a 3rd order Franciscan and served as Formation Director for 3 years prior to becoming ill he a food kitchen to feed the homeless for over 10 years.
Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Sr. and Olive Wettergreen.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie (Doucette) Shivvers; brother, Danny Shivvers of Venice, Florida; two sons, Michael and Stephan; the Nelson Family; 1 grand dog, Sugar; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and one daughter, Nancy Cartman.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 4p.m.-8p.m. with a Rosary to take place at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 24 at North Chapel, in Calvary Hill Cemetery Main Mausoleum at 10:00 a.m
A reception to follow after mass at the Reception Room located in Calvary Hill Funeral Home.
He will be buried at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
