Elizabeth Murphy Davis

Libby passed away May 24, 2014. She was born March 8, 1918 in Culleoka, Tenn. to Terrell and Jane Murphy. She with her sisters, Margaret and Marie, grew up in Nashville. Libby graduated Vanderbilt University Peabody College and was a gifted teacher in Chattanooga. She was a member of Central Christian Church, Brook Hollow Country Club, Monterey Peninsula Country Club and the DAR. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis F. Davis, son, Walter E. Mock, Jr., sisters, Margaret Davenport and Marie Cunningham, and former husband, Walter E. Mock. She is survived by daughter, Catherine Schulz (Tom), grandson, Walter E. Mock, III (Jeanette), daughter in law, Cindy Mock, great grandson, Walter Mock, IV, stepsons, Dr. Fred E. Davis (Cindy), Louis F. Davis, Jr. (Kathy), step grandchildren; Susan Davis Gryder, Richard F. Davis, Matthew Davis and Lauren Elizabeth Davis. The family is forever grateful to Sandra Johnson, LaNelle Franklin, Nedra Baker and Felicia Bilbrew for the love and care shown to Catherine’s mother. There is much appreciation as well to the staff of Walnut Place, one south and Dr. Sledge. A family graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Greenwood Cemetery in Longview, Texas. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church located at 4711 West Side Drive, Dallas, Texas 75209.

I recall Louis and Libby both as being cheerful, even though when I knew them they both had physical infirmities. I am a former member of Central Christian and called on them, and then on Libby, a few times. My husband Frank joins me in condolences to the family.
