Apostle Elizabeth Gaddis, 61, returned to her heavenly home on March 24, 2018. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God ultimately gave her peace. Elizabeth was born to the late Leslie and Susie Jackson in New Orleans, LA on March 6, 1957.
A Time to be Plant
From an early age, Elizabeth was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong assignment. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized and attended St. John A.M.E. Church. She was ordained at St. John A.M.E. under the leadership of Rev. Larry Story.
A Time to Love
She was a 1975 graduate of L.B. Landry High School in New Orleans. She went on to attend Southern University of New Orleans and during that time, she met the love of her life Kevin Gaddis Sr. Elizabeth and Kevin Sr. were married on July 21, 1979 and to this union were born three children. Liz, as her family affectionately called her loved to call Kevin a ‘handsome stud’. She liked to watch the Beverly Hillbillies and My Three Sons. Liz loved to eat snow crabs and Kevin’s homemade vegetable soup. Elizabeth worked in various areas of management and was a store manager at Security Sporting Goods Store until she received her full time calling to the ministry.
A Time to Serve
After her training at St. John A.M.E. Church, Elizabeth developed a love of service to the Lord and the lost. She served under various ministries in many capacities. Following her service at St. John, she was led to serve at New Home Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Samuel R. Blakes where she was in leadership, taught classes, counseled married couples and served as an assistant to the first lady. Elizabeth also served as a minister and prophetess at Bethesda Church under the leadership of Dr. Carol and Victor Thompson. Her life of service led to the office of Prophetess at Church of the Latter Rain under Pastor Rusty and Linda Bowles and Abundant Life Church in Garland under the leadership of Pastor Glen Davis.
While Faith, Hope and Love Outreach Ministry was established in 1998, it was now time to culminate what Elizabeth had known as her pursuit of a lifelong career in full-time ministry. Faith, Hope, and Love, Teaching & Healing Ministry, was birthed and evolved into a five-fold ministry where she enjoyed preaching, teaching, counseling families, evangelizing, and caring for the homeless. Evangelism and outreach became the heart of her ministry. The ministry helped families in crisis situations, ministered to the homeless, was used to heal the sick, prayed for deliverance through her gift of discernment. Many were touched, saved, set free and healed and Elizabeth was called upon by the Mayor on a regular basis to pray for the city of Garland, Texas. Elizabeth exuded 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
A Time to Mourn
Elizabeth as a child of the King, was a prayer warrior and a faithful servant. She simply loved Jesus. While this relationship was a 61-year journey, she lived by the Romans 8:28 principle, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according His purpose.” Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Kevin Sr.; her son Kevin Jr. (Keisha); her son Leslie (Cassandra); her daughter Latoya; her grandchildren Kevin III and Skylyn. She is survived by five siblings including her sisters Marion (Paul), Elouise (Paul), Gwen (Roy), Sheila(Robert) ; her brother Harold (Dorothy); and is preceded in death by her mother Susie, father Leslie and sister Mauleen.
She was also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
