Elizabeth “Betty” Timm Swift, 86, of Arlington, Texas, passed away following a stroke, leaving behind a family and community immeasurably blessed by her love, faith, and care.
Born in Dallas, Betty lived a life of grace, kindness, and devotion. She was a beloved wife and mother, whose heart was always turned toward others. In every sense of the word, Betty was a lady.
She was an active member of St. Barnabas United Methodist Church, where her Christian faith and service was something she lived on Sundays and each day through acts of compassion, community enrichment, and love.
For 14 years, Betty served as a child advocate with CASA of Tarrant County, giving voice to children who needed one most. She was named Advocate of the Year in 2007. In her later years, she volunteered in the NICU, rocking and singing to premature babies with a God-given tenderness. She continued that labor of love until the very end of her life — and we believe she is still rocking babies in heaven.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Joe Swift; her children, Scott Wyatt, Jason Wyatt, Jennifer Kaminski, and Kris Swift; and her grandchildren, Cory, Chase, Major, Emilee, Milo, Anna, Parker, Aiden, and Seven.
She will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, beside the place reserved for her husband Joe, a veteran of the United States military.
Betty’s life was a gift to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her love, her faith, her gentleness, her sense of humor, and the care she gave to so many.
