After a long illness, Ellen Faye Sheppard Skidmore, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, March 2, 2011, surrounded by her family. Ellen Faye was born January 16, 1938 in Cameron, TX to Virgil C. Sheppard and Jenny Davis Sheppard. As a child, Ellen Faye lived in Temple, TX, graduated from Temple High School in 1956 and moved to the Dallas/Ft.Worth area soon after, where she met her soul mate Gerald Skidmore. They were married on January 24, 1958 in Bedford, Texas. Ellen Faye was a licensed beautician for several years, before returning to college to earn her Registered Nurse designation. She practiced in Dallas, Texas and surrounding areas, where she had a passion for infants in critical care units, and infirmed elderly patients who were home bound.
She retired to the Florida Gulf Coast, where she lived in Clearwater Beach. Walking on the beach, and viewing the colorful sunsets, were among her favorite daily pastimes.
She enjoyed being with family most of all, and lived each day to hear of the latest accomplishments from one of her grand children. She loved traveling the world, on cruises and via air, and most of all enjoyed visiting the Holy Lands with her family.
She was an accomplished pianist, organist, and vocalist, and loved serving the Lord above all else, particularly through her musical talents.
Ellen Faye was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald, one daughter, Sharon, her mother and father, four brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by her loving Son, Dan Skidmore, his wife Kathleen, three grand children Ryan, Amy and Katie Skidmore, all of Gahanna, Ohio, one sister, Gladys Forrest and husband C.H., Hurst, Texas and one brother, James (Jim) Sheppard and wife Nancy of San Antonio, TX, four sisters in law, several nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.
