of 99, leaving this world in a blaze of glory with fireworks lighting the sky around her.
Ellena was born on February 19, 1927, the fourteenth child of
Martha Ellis Banks and Joseph Howle. She was preceded in
death by all thirteen of her siblings.
She was married briefly to Pete Glass, who was tragically killed
in an automobile accident. Soon after, she moved to Dallas, where a childhood friend, whose husband played fiddle in a local band, introduced her to the band's bass player, Grady Moss. The two began dating and were married in October 1957.
Ellena was warmly welcomed into the family by Grady's two children, Mary Nell and John, and she remained his constant companion for the rest of his life, faithfully attending his performances as he made music all across North Texas. Grady preceded her in death.
Ellena leaves behind a vast and loving extended family, including 26 cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. "She left this world in a blaze of glory, with fireworks all around her."
