Emily Mary Yourell Touzin, of Dallas, Texas, was born on December 6, 1931 in Dublin, Ireland to Kathleen Picking Yourell and Thomas Yourell. She passed away peacefully on November 22, 2020 at 88 years of age.
At the young age of 17, she traveled from Dublin, Ireland to Hartford, CT by herself to live with her aunt and uncle and begin a new life in America. She soon met the love of her life, Edward Touzin. They enjoyed acting in plays in local theater and playing in bowling leagues. They were married 44 years.
Emily had a love for her Irish heritage and particularly Irish dancing. After moving to Vermont, friends asked her to teach their children how to dance. She soon had 30 students who she taught in the basement of her home. The family moved to Texas and once again she brought her passion of Irish dancing with her. She founded a new school and called it the Emerald School of Irish Dancing. She taught a countless number of children and adults over a span of almost 50 years. She was active in Irish American organizations in Dallas and was a board member on the SCMA. She also worked at Mostek Corp as a technical engineer, Majors Corp and with the help of Ed she reached the President’s Club selling Avon products.
Emily loved her husband, children and grandchildren deeply. She loved all animals, especially cats. She fed her outdoor “critters” daily and enjoyed watching them come to her front door. She will be remembered for her kindness, smile and Irish wit.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Edward G. Touzin, her parents Kathleen and Thomas Yourell, and her brother Fredrick Yourell. Emily is survived by her children: Keith Touzin (Rossana); Leslie Middleton (Mark); and Nancy Touzin Fuller. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen Rondeau (Ernest); and brother Vincent Yourell (Mary). She was “Gram” to 4 grandchildren: Keenan Middleton, Caitlin Middleton, Erin Fuller and Wyatt Fuller.
