Emma Jane Ganter

Emma Jane Ganter, died at 101 years of age. She was born at home in Platter, Oklahoma on October 1, 1917. She passed away peacefully April 5, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. The only child of Alfred Tennison and Minnie Hock Hornback, Jane, as she was known to all, was raised in Denison, Texas. She graduated from St. Xavier’s Academy and went to Finishing and Business school where she learned to be a Comptometer. She married Bertin Cornelius Ganter on January 27, 1938 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Denison, Texas. Jane and Bertin finally settled in Dallas, Texas where they were one of the founding members of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church. Jane was an active member of the Altar Society and Women’s Circle for many years. She watched over twelve of her children as they attended St. Bernard School, Don and Lewis graduated from Jesuit while Paul, John, Mary Jane, Martha, Elaine, Robert, Thomas, James, Eloise and Kevin attended Bishop Lynch High School.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Bertin; son, Don Ganter; infant, Martha; and daughter-in-law, Mary Ganter. She is survived by her children, Lewis and wife Sonia, Paul, John and wife Mary Joan, Mary Jane Shannon and husband Al, Martha Manley and husband Norman, Elaine, Robert and wife Liz, Thomas, James and wife Kevan, Eloise, Kevin and wife Michelle, and daughter-in-law, Angela Ganter;

grandchildren, Jennifer Ganter, Katie and husband Tom Jackson, Jackie Ganter, Kristie Gardner and husband Brett, Gretchen Schell and husband David, Mari Thompson, Carl Ganter and wife Julie, Diane Pike and husband Brian, Nick Ganter and wife Shanna, Chris Ganter and wife Laura, Ben Ganter and wife Camille, Greg Ganter and wife Lindsey, Lisa Rocha and husband Jonathan, Andrew Shannon and wife Sara, Erica McDonald and husband Mark, Chad Manley, Adam Manley and wife Angel, Drs.
