
Emma Josephine Terrell, 85, of Dallas Texas departed this life on Monday, March 14,2011.Ms. Terrell was born on September 18, 1925 in Morris County, Texas to James Otis Terrell and Ona Belle Ranes Terrell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Freeman Terrell of Morris County, Texas; and her sister, Sarah Will Terrell of Alamogordo, New Mexico. She is survived by her niece, Rebecca A. Slater and husband Larry of Tyler Texas; her nephew James 0. Terrell and wife Beverly of Waco, Texas; and a great- niece, Fleming Terrell of Washington, DC. After graduation from Daingerfield High School in Daingerfield, Texas, Ms. Terrell enrolled in the dental hygienist program at Baylor University College of Dentistry. She graduated in 1957 as a member of the first class of dental hygienists to graduate from any Texas institution. Ms. Terrell practiced her profession with the offices of Dr. Melvin Land, DDS, Dr. Bill Roach, DDS and Dr. Terry Miller, DDS and served in various official capacities related to her life's calling. She was a longtime member of Lakewood United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas. Gayle Landis, Senior Pastor of Lakewood United Methodist Church, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the Spring Hill Cemetery Association, c/o Sharon Moore, 2515 Texas Highway 338, Naples, Texas 75568. Throughout her life, and especially during her last illness, Ms. Terrell and her family were ever thankful and grateful for the many neighbors, patients, associates, medical professionals and other friends who made up her Dallas family.
