Era Boyd was born on April 2, 1924, in Austin, Texas to Allen Harris and Sevilla Williams. They later moved to Mount Vernon, Texas. Era became a member of the Denton Creek Methodist Church at the age of 14.
When she was 19, she married Clarence Boyd and moved to Arkansas. Born to this union was one son, Cleophus Boyd. Her family moved to West Texas several years later.
After moving to Dallas, Texas she joined he West Main Street Baptist Church. She ended her spiritual journey at Griggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member of the Church Matrons Mission Auxiliary and served 36 years in the Senior Choir.
Her employment was with Howard Johnson franchise numerous years prior to her retirement. She was a loyal volunteer at Children's Medical Center for 21 years and worked the food pantry many years.
Preceding her to the other shore are both parents; Allen Harris and Sevilla Williams, her son; Cleophus Boyd, her siblings; Lillie Marie Harris, J. W. Harris, Hazel Harris, Dorothy Jean Harris, Roosevelt Harris, Allen Harris Jr., Leatha Wilson, A. J. Harris, Ola Williams, Claree Harris, John Arthur Harris, and Gloster Harris.
She leaves to cherish her memory the grandson she raised, Ronald Boyd, a host of grand children, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
