Eric David Christiansen

April 9, 1967June 30, 2019

Eric David Christiansen passed away unexpectedly June 30, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. The youngest son of Thomas and Ruth Christiansen, Eric was born on April 9, 1967 in Camden, New Jersey. After spending his first year in Camden, the family moved to Dallas where Eric grew up and graduated from Bryan Adams High School.

Eric served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division during Operation Just Cause where he participated in one of the only combat jumps by US paratroopers since World War II. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield and saw combat in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. After he completed active duty, Eric served in the Army Reserve with the Special Forces. He was immensely patriotic and honored to be a military veteran. After his military service, Eric completed his college education and began a long and successful career in the technology and recruiting industry.

With a strong love for his family, nothing pleased Eric more than a family get together where he could be Uncle Eric to his numerous nieces and nephews. As the baby of the family, he was cherished and cared for by his six older siblings who were often amazed at the things Eric could get away with that they never could. Eric was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed a good Dallas Cowboys football game.

A cherished friend to many, Eric will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched. Eric was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Tri, his loving siblings Mary Sue (Bob) Gaston, Cathleen (Jerry) Shipley, Thomas Jens Christiansen Jr. (Elise May), Julia (Bill) Hebding, Sarah (Scott) Elkins, Ellen (Jerry) Franks, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials honoring Eric may be made to the Brotherhood for the Fallen-Dallas at, Puppies Behind Bars at, or the charity of your choice.

Thinking of you all today as you send your husband and baby brother home. He clearly touched many lives and left the world a better place in the short time he had here on earth. I will be with you in spirit this afternoon and am sending you all my love.
With deepest sympathy,
Mary (Christiansen) Leys

I had the pleasure of having Eric in a couple of classes at BA, and was lucky enough to be able to call him my friend. We laughed all the time, he was always in good spirits, good humor, and loving life. I was shocked hearing this news, and deeply saddened. I will always be grateful for the friendship & the memories, and all the laughs. It seems the "good" ones are getting taken more and more frequently from this world, and it's leaving it just a bit darker. My deepest condolences to all his family, friends, and brotherhood. Eric,my friend, RIP until we see each other again.
Thank you for being in my life, and wanting me in yours, it was an honor.

It’s always the best ones that leave too early. Thanks for sharing part of you with all of us Eric. You always had a great attitude and plenty of energy to make stuff happen when it needed to. We’re all in debt to your combat service to our country and for the sacrifices you made. You were an example to us all. Thanks for being a fighter. Rest easy my brother.

To the youngest memory of my second family and a friend to my youngest Nick. He sends his love to the family and said only good things about Eric. When we moved here from Calif. Ruth said there goes the neighborhood as she looked out the window when we arrived across the street, from that time on we mixed the Christiansen s and the Scagliones for the rest of the time you all lived at home. I hope you feel the love that I have for all of you and will be here for all of you. This has been a long loving friendship and know it will continue. My love to you Eric, may you now have peace.

You have been a true friend since 1996 and I will never forget your spirit, determination and can-do attitude. You served as an inspiration when things didn’t go as planned and were always willing to lend a hand. You are one of a kind.

The world is losing a gentle warrior and kind individual that has always cared about other much more than himself.

Your service to country, friends and family will never be forgotten.

Eric I met you over a decade ago, through your closest friend. Brother between football games, fishing trips, hunting trips, and just living and hanging out you have given my family and I so many memories. My kids will miss “Uncle Eric” and his sense of humor, my wife and I will cherish the outpouring of love and acceptance you and your family have given us over the years. Thank you for being you and thank you for everything! We love you and will miss you dearly.

Gods Speed brother! Now that the great jumpmaster in the sky has you, save me a seat on that bird. Your fight on earth has ended but your fight for righteousness has just begun.

I’m honored to have known Eric and had the privilege of developing a relationship with him over the past couple of years. He was always available to speak and always provided a great story from his military days.

As a fellow veteran I’m sadden at the lost of such a hero and the service Eric provided his country will never be forgotten and always honored.
