Esmeralda Joan De La Rosa Vasquez was born May 11, 1924 in Strawn, TX, the daughter of the late Victor De La Rosa and the late Tomasa (Saiz) De La Rosa. Her spirit passed into eternal rest on June 17, 2019 in Dallas. She was raised in Dallas, where she attended St. Edward’s Catholic School. She later graduated from St. Paul’s School of Nursing. Esmeralda was an avid reader, a great cook, and enjoyed handicrafts like embroidery, knitting, and crocheting. She was a devoted and loving mother to 6 children. She helped raise grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She kept decades long friendships through the St. Paul Alumni Association. She was a warm, witty person, a loyal friend and confidante, and no one went away hungry from her house. She loved classical music, and the fine arts. She had a great sense of humor.
