Essie Lee Allen, a lifetime resident of Dallas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 7, 2015. She lived a full ninety six years of life surrounded by her two children, seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
Essie and her family grew their faith at Munger Place Baptist Church. She had a long career as a proofreader at Taylor Publishing. She is most remembered as the family matriarch who loved her family well, a spiritual leader who encouraged the love of Jesus, and an amazing cook who nourished many around her table.
She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy four years, Raymond Allen, her sister Birdie Titus, and her brother J.T. Duval. She is survived by her daughters Linda Rada and Debbie Watson.
A graveside service will be held at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas at 10 am on Friday, February 13th. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, February 12th.
