Ethel Nell Grant was born on June 17, 1936, to the union of Lottie Mae and John Henry Grant in Cason, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. A devoted member of Rhoads Terrace Bible Fellowship Church, she served faithfully as a member of the 50 Plus Sunday School Class, the Deaconess Board, and the Culinary Team.
Ethel Nell received her formal education at Rhoads High School in Daingerfield, Texas. She dedicated her life to serving others with grace and humility through her work in domestic service—providing compassionate care, preparing meals, and maintaining homes with diligence and integrity.
She will be remembered as a wise, loving, and God-fearing woman—a mother whose life was marked by kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. Her love extended beyond her children to everyone she encountered, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will also be remembered as the undeniable best Chef, and the undisputable best pound cake, banana pudding, and peach cobbler baker.
Ethel Nell was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Grant and Lottie Mae Smith-Grant; her brothers, Obe Grant and John L. Grant; and her sister, Edna Jean McGee.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Mary Hodge, Gregory Grant, Roderick Grant, and Tabitha Grant all of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
"Her children arise and call her blessed."
