Eugene F. Herbeck

Eugene Francis Herbeck, age 83, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 in his home. He was born January 29, 1928 on a farm in Clay County, Nebraska to Edward and Agnes H. Herbeck. In 1945, he graduated from Riverton High School in Riverton, Wyoming as class valedictorian. After high school, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and served in the Philippine Islands. He attended the University of Wyoming and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1950 with a degree in petroleum engineering. He had a 35 year career with Atlantic Richfield Company and was active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

He is survived by his four children: Dr. Gregory and wife Eileen Herbeck of Longview, Texas; Mark Herbeck of Huntington Beach, California; Christopher Herbeck of Long Beach, California and Victoria and husband Tim Tollette of Plano, Texas. Grandchildren include Seth Herbeck of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Rachel Herbeck of Longview; and Garrett and Grant Tollette of Plano. He is also survived by his brother Donald Herbeck of Grand Forks, North Dakota, his sister Sr. Dolores Herbeck, OSF of Tacoma, Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Evelyn D. Herbeck, whom he married on June 11, 1951; his parents; and his sister Norma Heath.

His greatest joys were his family, friends and church. He was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for 44 years and was most proud of his time with the Rosary Group and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Visitation will be at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home , 10501 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas, on

Wednesday June 29th from 5 to 7 pm followed by a Rosary (7:00 p.m.).

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Josef Vollmer-Konig at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Road, Dallas, Texas, on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 10:00 am immediately followed by a reception in the parish hall. Interment will be at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Road, Dallas, Texas 75238.
