

Eugene Zale passed away peacefully on October 1, 2014 at home surrounded by his beloved family. He was born July 6, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School and the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi. Gene began his career as a C.P.A , and later joined his family working at the Zale Corporation. In 1960 he began a successful career as a multi-family developer, building over 3000 apartments.
Gene was soft-spoken, sweet natured, and kind. He was a selfless man always thinking of others first. He cared about those in need and served on the board of the William and Sylvia Zale Foundation. It was noted that no one could say a bad word about Eugene Zale. He was a man of tradition and honor. Gene loved reading, traveling and was a wizard at crossword puzzles. His greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild who were the blessing and purpose of his life. His family returned the love adoring their father and grandfather. He enjoyed his retirement with his wife in mutual love and respect.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sylvia Zale, and granddaughter, Heather Feinberg Davis. He is survived by: his brothers and sisters-in-law, Lew and Doris Zale, Ted and Ilse Zale, his loving wife Ethel Silvergold Zale, his children, Debbie and Steve Schwartz, Cindy Zale Sollie, Mark and Liza Zale, and Cathy Zale Cotter, his grandchildren Jason and Susan Feinberg, Ashley Feinberg, Erica, Andrea and Nicole Sollie, William Blake, Robert, and Meredith Zale, Brandon and Jennifer Cotter, great grandchild, Dexter Feinberg, step children Alan and Debra Frankfurt, Beth and Gary Kahn, Barbara and Howard Glick, Eric and Dena Frankfurt, Jennifer and Bradley Greenblum and their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be Friday October 3, at 10:30 am at Congregation Shearith Israel, 9401 Douglas Ave., Dallas, TX 75225 with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas. Special thanks to devoted helper and friend Alex Wetzel and caring home assistant Angela Barragan.
