Gene Benavidez, a friend, a co worker and a good man.

We worked together at FCI Seagoville in late ‘70’s and during the 1980’s.

Gene was a great man that I will always consider a friend. He is missed.

To Marc, esteemed friend and colleague; on behalf of the Richemont team, I offer our deepest condolences to you and your family. Please know that your work family is thinking of you during this difficult time.

 I worked with Gene at Dallas County Adult Probation from his very first day until his retirement.  He was such a kind and caring man.  He always greeted me with a smile.  Gene was never one to dodge work. He would take care of his assignments and then pitch in wherever he could to get the job done.  Even when things were tuff at the probation department he would not give up his positive attitude.  I am a better person for knowing and working with Gene.  He is gone from us far too soon.  My thoughts and prayers are with Gene's family.

Aunt Mini, Marc and Miriam, I would like to offer our most heartfelt condolences to you all with the passing of Uncle Gene.  I had always given credit to Uncle Gene for giving me pep talks about playing football during my high school years at Jefferson.  He always seemed to know exactly what to say.  His words of encouragement are something I have always carried with me and will always cherish.  May God wrap his loving arms around you all and provide strength during this difficult time.  Lord, grant eternal rest upon Uncle Gene and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May he rest in Peace, Amen! :{)

I only had the opportunity to meet your dad one time and that was on Thanksgiving.  We are so happy that we were able to meet him as he was so kind and had a very warm personality.  We are very sad to hear that he has passed on but he is now in a better place and watching over all of you from above.  Vero and I send all of you a big hug.

I worked with Gene for many years both at the courthouse and then followed him at the West Office.  Although Gene was a veteran of 2 wars and saw way too much, I never knew about Vietnam- he always had such a sweet, calm demeanor.  He was truly a Gentleman.  He lost a lot of weight during his time as a supervisor.  I asked him his secret and he said I just worked through my lunch hours so much that I didn't have time to eat.  That was the person he was at Probation.  He worked as a Gentleman in the midst of a chaotic and dysfunctional work place.  We are all better off for having Gene as a friend and coworker.  Many times we were the last 2-3 leaving on Fridays and Thursdays because he stayed late to make sure that his coworkers were taken care of for the next day and that his bosses were not going to be upset. I remember Gene from my first days at the probation department. He made it a point to speak to me as I passed by his office in the mornings. 
I always thought alot of him for making me feel welcome.

I worked with Gene at the Federal Bureau of prisons (FCI) and The Dallas County Adult Probation Department until his retirement. Gene was a wonderful person whom I was proud to communicate with. I remember Gene when I was a young boy. i would go to work with my father in my two piece suit and visit with Gene before we all headed to court to begin our day. Gene was a kind hearted man who would stop what he was doing to listen to you.  My father Donald Mazoch speaks highly all time when mentioning Gene..hard worker, veteran, godly man and devout family man. Gene may you rest in peace and we love you and miss you.

I knew Gene while working in the court units at the Dallas County Adult Probation. He would always speak to me at work. He was always smiling & had a positive outlook on life. I remember one day when I was going to Judge Tolle's court to get a probation violation warrant signed by the judge. I did not have my suit coat on, but was dressed in a dress shirt, tie & suit pants. Gene stopped me at the courtroom door & told me that Judge Tolle would not allow anyone in his courtroom without wearing a suit coat. Gene saved me from getting the Judge mad at me. I returned to get my suit coat on before entering into Judge Tolle's court. 
I have not had contact with Gene since he had lefted the probation department.
