Eva Jean Norris Hill peacefully took her final earthly breath on the morning of November 24, 2020, at the age of 89. She is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister and Nana who loved her family well, cared for others deeply and served her heavenly Father faithfully.
Jean - or Jeanie as her closest family liked to call her - was born on July 26, 1931, to Bunyan Heartfield Norris and Edith Dee McKamy, and was raised in Bangs, Texas, along with her 10 siblings, 9 of whom have preceded her in death.
She gave her heart to Jesus Christ at the age of 10 and was baptized in Trickham Creek. She played softball at Bangs High School and graduated in 1948.
Jean moved to Dallas and began working at Sears Roebuck & Co., where she met her lifelong love Clarence Lee Hill. They were married on July 29, 1950, at the preacher's house. Clarence passed away peacefully on July 6, 2018, at the age of 88.
For 67 years, Clarence and Jean modeled a marriage of love, faith and generosity while raising three daughters - Sandra Jean, Debra Kaye and Kimberly Denise.
Jean worked in education from 1969 to 1983 at Houston Elementary School, then Pleasant Run Elementary School as a teacher's aide in the special education department and later the Early Childhood Class.
The Hill family joined Danieldale Baptist Church in Lancaster, Texas, in 1953, where Jean joyfully served with children and babies. They joined First Baptist Church of Lancaster, Texas in 1983, where Clarence and Jean remained members until their deaths.
From 1990 to 2004, Jean volunteered at the Lancaster Medical Center. She also enjoyed volunteering with tornado relief in 1994 and singing in the Senior Serenaders at FBC Lancaster. Family members can attest to her gift of hospitality and superb cooking talent as she enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings.
Jean is survived by her daughters Sandra Hill, Debra Stanley and husband Troy, and Kimberly Allen and husband Stephen; grandchildren Dorthea Herndon and husband Chris, Angela Estes and husband Josh, James Allen and wife Hailey, and Leah Reynolds and husband Matthew; great grandchildren Andrew, Caed, Noah, McKinley, Grady, Audrey, Elijah, Samuel, and Autumn.
