James Haley, a devoted servant of God, a dedicated father, and a pillar of the Dallas ministry community, transitioned from labor to reward, entering into eternal life with his Savior. Born on January 29, 1951, in Ripley, Tennessee, James was the youngest child born to the union of Hezekiah and Luella Haley.
A man of sharp intellect and early ambition, James graduated from high school at the age of 16. His journey took him across the country, living in Missouri and California before finally settling in Dallas, Texas in 1984—the place he would call home for the remainder of his life.
A Legacy of Service and Hard Work
James was a man who understood the value of a steady hand and a strong work ethic. He dedicated his professional life to commercial driving, beginning his career with DART and later joining Frito-Lay. After 12 years of faithful service, he retired from Frito-Lay in 2006, leaving behind a reputation for reliability and excellence.
A Heart for the Gospel
While he drove the roads of Texas by trade, James walked the path of righteousness by faith. Having given his life to God at an early age, his true passion was sharing the goodness of the Lord. Known to many as Evangelist Haley, he was a familiar and comforting presence across the Dallas Metroplex.
His ministry was marked by a deep love for teaching and a servant’s heart:
Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship: Served as a New Member Teacher, grounding others in their faith.
Family Center’s and Missions: Dedicated over 10 years as the Lead Pastor, providing hope and spiritual guidance to families in need at both Genesis Women’s Shelter and Union Gospel Mission Center of Hope.
Community Outreach: A frequent visiting Pastor and volunteer at various churches, James was always ready to preach the Word and teach the love of Christ.
James lived his life as a testament to his belief that a life for Christ is the greatest gift one can receive, earning the ultimate reward of eternal life in heaven.
Family and Remembrance
James was the cherished father of three children whom he loved and adored beyond measure. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hezekiah and Luella Haley, and his siblings: J.C. Haley, John Phillip Haley, Abraham Haley, Sammie Lee Haley, Frances Lavern (Haley) Davis, Jimmie Lee Haley, and Nathan Haley.
His legacy of faith and family continues through those who survive him: Sister Lelia Haley Johnson of Cleveland, TN. Children: Stephaney Haley Jordan of Albany, GA, Michele Haley (Derrick) of Waxahachie, TX, and Solomon Haley of Los Angeles, CA. Six beloved grandchildren and six precious great-grandchildren.
With a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
James Haley’s voice may be silent, but the echoes of his sermons and the impact of his kindness will resonate in the hearts of those he touched forever.
