Faith Anderson Jones, age 88, entered the gates of heaven on April 23, 2026, due to complications from a stroke.
Faith was born in New York City to Lawraign Gwathmay Anderson and George Henry Anderson on July 19, 1937. Faith attended Roanoke College graduating in 1959 and soon began her lifelong career in education. Faith was passionate about teaching; she loved her students and touched countless lives throughout her many years in the classroom.
Faith settled in Warrenton, Virginia, in 1976 and called it home for 45 years. She became an active part of the community where she taught at The Highland School, served at St. James Episcopal Church, and was a member of the Warrenton Antiquarian Society. While Faith was a proud New Yorker and frequently returned for visits, Virginia became her home. Faith loved to garden, read, and travel. She was always happy with her toes in the sand, a dog in her lap, or boarding a plane for her next adventure.
Faith was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Eve-Lynn Anderson Deegan; and her former husband, Dr. Howard L. Armistead, Jr.
Faith is survived by her son, Howard L. Armistead III and his wife, Mary Van; her grandchildren, Caroline Armistead Masterson and her husband, Blake, Howard L. Armistead IV and his wife, Emma, and Elizabeth L. Armistead; as well as her great-grandchildren, Ellis Ann Masterson, Howard L. Armistead V, and James W. Masterson, who brought her much joy.
A family graveside service will take place this summer, Faith's favorite time of year.
