

Fern Margaret Saile Zimmerman died peacefully at home, with her loving family present, on May 18, 2010, after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. Fern was born on September 4, 1924 in Concord, New Hampshire and grew up in Ohio. As an adult, she moved to Dallas where she met and married the love of her life, Abbey Zimmerman. Fern is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Richard and Jim Saile. She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Abbey Zimmerman, daughter Leslie McNaughton and her husband Bob of Columbus, OH; daughter Linda Castaldi and her husband John of Carrollton, TX; grandchildren Sam and Abbey McNaughton, Jennifer Cortez and her husband James, Drew Castaldi, Kelley Cerasuolo and her husband John, Matt McNaughton, Katie Rapp and her husband Craig and great-grandchildren Jakob and Joseph and her brother Dan. All who were blessed to have known Fern, experienced her gracious hospitality. Fern loved to entertain friends and especially her family with her wonderful dinner parties. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by those that she loved. In her later life, she also spent many enjoyable days in South Padre with her husband, family and cherished Island friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. The service will be at Lefkowitz Chapel at Temple Emanu-El on Sunday, May 23rd at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Fern’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, (alz.org) or the National Autism Association, (nationalautismassociation.org).
