

Floyd Joseph (Joe) Leverette, age 96, born December 1, 1929, to Floyd Freeman and Gertrude Conor Leverette in Dallas Texas.
Joe died February 25, 2026, surrounded by his family after a battle with dementia, in Bastrop Texas. He is predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Gertrude Leverette, His sisters, Mary Beth Cera (Ralph), Virginia Schnitzius (Patrick), Theresa Powell (Bill), and Dorothy Jean Adamcik (Frankie).
Joe is survived by his sister, Margie (Victor) Muse of Coppell Texas, his brother-in-law, Frankie Adamcik, from Desoto Texas, and his wife, Sue, of almost seventy years from Bastrop Texas. Joe was a devoted and loving husband to Sue. They met and married April 14, 1956, and were looking forward to celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary April 14, 2026. Joe adored his children and grandchildren. He always looked forward to any kind of celebration with his family.
Joe attended Catholic schools from grade school through his high school years. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 1946. He attended Spring Hill College in Mobile Alabama his freshman year of college and graduated from SMU in Dallas Texas. Joe proudly served his country serving in the U S Navy.
Joe was the proud father to his surviving children, daughter Linda Michele Leverette Duckworth of Bastrop Texas and his son Christopher Joseph Leverette (Sandy and son, Egan Rypkema) of Tatum Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren Samantha Nicole Chase (Tom), Corey Jamison Santmyer, and Colton Parker Santmyer (Esteban). One great granddaughter Kaylen Davis-Santmyer, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joe enjoyed traveling the world and never met a stranger. once on a trip to Ireland, he had planned to kiss the Blarney Stone when the guide informed Sue that Joe already had the gift of gab and didn't need to kiss the stone. Joe also enjoyed his time with the Knights of Columbus Council 5052 where he was a charter member, and served as the first Deputy Grand Knight, followed by his two years as Grand Knight. Prior to his membership with Council #5052, Joe was a member of council #799. He once said that joining the Knights was the second-best thing he ever did following his marriage to Sue. Joe loved history anything concerning his beloved USA, and the game of golf, playing well into his early nineties.
The most important thing to Joe was his Catholic faith, his love for his family, and his many friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11:00am at the North Chapel (inside mausoleum) of Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220, followed by the burial.
