Mr. Forrest Maywood Nickell Jr.

Forrest Maywood Nickell, Jr. was born on June 1, 1926 to Forrest Maywood Nickell, Sr. and Edna Clark. He was preceded in death by his mother; father; stepfather, Henry Johnson; wife of 57 years, Lois Dillard Nickell; and brother, Bobby Nickell. Mr. Nickell confessed faith in Christ at an early age at Elmwood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas and was very active in the church. He moved his membership to Wynnewood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas in 1983, where he served faithfully until his illness prevented him from attending church. During Mr. Nickell’s lifetime, he served the church in many areas, including 50+ years as a deacon. Forrest was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Upon graduation from Sunset High School in 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving his country during WWII on the USS Yosemite and the USS Tamalpais. Upon his return to Dallas in 1946, Forrest enrolled at SMU in pursuit of a medical degree. Forrest married Lois M. Dillard on November 5, 1948 and to the marriage, four sons were born; Michael, Gary, David and Kevin. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Johdalia (Jody) of Dallas, TX; four sons, Michael Nickell of Plano, TX, Gary and his wife Melissa Nickell of Lewisville, TX, David and his wife Debbie Nickell of Coppell, TX, and Kevin and his wife Debbie Nickell of Cedar Hill, TX, and step-mother, Virginia Nickell of Dallas, TX. Grandchildren are: Meagan Rivera and her husband Michael, Brian Nickell and his wife Erin, Brianna Robben and her husband Matthew Christopher Nickell and his wife Stephanie, Cindy Nickell and Clayton Nickell. Great-Grandchildren: Marcus Rivera, Madelyn Rivera, Nathanael Nickell, Ben Nickell, Elijah Nickell, Luke Nickell, Rylie Robben, Brinley Robben, Whitley Nickell, Kylie Nickell, Benton Nickell. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of other relatives, and devoted friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. Forrest spent his final days in the care of his family, Elysian Hospice Care and the wonderful staff at The Villa of Mountain View Nursing Services.
