Fran was born in Kingsville, Texas on February 13, 1947, to John and Beth Zercher. As a child, she moved to Westfield, New Jersey where she graduated from Westfield High School. She made her way back to Texas to study at North Texas State University and Texas Women’s University in Denton where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She made Denton her home for the next several decades where she raised her two sons, Jeff and Brad.
Throughout her life, Fran enjoyed arts and crafts, ranging from her love for the Impressionist paintings of late 19th century, to the photography she created in her own dark room. She enjoyed travel and instilling a sense of adventure into her sons, taking them on cross country road trips to show them what the world has to offer. Fran was also always willing to help a family member, a friend, or even a stranger in need. She actively volunteered to counsel runaway and troubled youth with the Dallas County Juvenile Department.
Fran is preceded in death by her parents, John and Beth Zercher, and her nephew, Tim Zercher.
Fran is survived by her sons; Jeff, his wife Carrie, and their two daughters: Alissa and Ainsley of Dallas; and Brad, his wife Tricia and their son Spencer of Houston; her brother Bill, his wife Mary Sue, and their children John and Adrienne; and many close friends.
A celebration of life will take place at 10:00am on May 17th, 2025 at Grove Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan officiating. Committal will immediately follow.
The Walden family wishes to thank Yunika Kadira and her staff at Devoted Faith Care Home, as well as everyone with Anchor of Hope Hospice, for their loving care and support during Fran’s final days.
