

Frances Calagna Gallovich (Franny) 85, died peacefully in her sleep April 4, 2010. She was born in Los Angeles, California December 9, 1924. She was a talented child, at 14 she won the California State High School Cake Bake Off and in the middle of the depression she won a new stove for her Mom, size able monetary reward, a trophy, lots of press and many accolades. During a world wind World War II romance of 6 days she met and married the love her life Louis Gallovich. Frances and Louis produced two children Katheen and Richard. Upon Louis's death in 1997, Franny moved to Dallas to be with her daughter who had married a Texan. Kathleen had obviously inherited her Mother's cooking skills as she choose the restaurant business. In fact, Franny was a fixture at Kathleen's Sky Diner; formerly Kathleen's Art Cafe. She worked there just days before her death. She will be much missed by staff and customers alike. She is survived by her children Kathleen Ellington, Richard Gallovich; her son in law Robert Ellington, her daughter-in-law Christy Gallovich, grandchildren Gresham, Claire, Abby and precious Ashley. As a resident of Dallas she was active in the Dallas County Republican party, clerked elections for Precinct #1201, was a member of the White Literary Group, and was an avid gardener. Her life was rich with love, friends, and family. A memorial service will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cemetery on Monday April 12 at 4:00 pm and a reception to follow at Kathleen's Sky Diner for family and friends, 4424 Lovers Lane, University Park, TX 75225 (214) 691-2355.
