You've been gone 3 years and missing you still leaves an ache in my heart.  I hope the promise of eternal life in Heaven means happiness and joy. I sure enjoyed being your daughter.  I love you mom.

Happy Easter Sunday Mom.  
You've celebrated your Resurrection into new life. 
Thank you for all the Happy Easter memories.  The best memories are the rainy day Easter Basket hunts in the house. I still laugh at the basket reflected in the lampshade after one of the kids turned in the light. Or the beautiful Easter basket hidden in the dryer. Finding and re-hiding Easter Baskets was also a lot of fun.   
Easter dinner with baked ham and fresh asparagus was always delicious.

It's Thanksgiving Day Mother.  The fact that we had you with us for 86 years gives us much to be thankful for.  Our home always smelled so good when you were in the kitchen making the best stuffing.  Oh how you loved listening to the radio show Chef's sharing new or tried and true recipes for the holidays.  And thank you for letting us have a little glass of wine to make us feel so grown up and special. Even if it was only the 9 of us ( only 9 yikes) you set the table for "company" and made everything look and taste delicious.  Thank you for the wonderful memories. Happy Birthday dear Mother!  I called Joey and wished her a Happy Birthday too. We remmenanced about how wonderful you were at entertaining and throwing wonderful dinner parties.  
I think tonight calls for chicken enchiladas and a margarita on the rocks; no salt. A toast to you for all the love you shared with us.  3 squeezes.

Anne Marie turns 60 years old today. Come to think of it, so do I.  Thank you for bringing us into this world safe and sound. Mom we did as you requested. We celebrated your life. We laugh and toasted to your good graces. We sang and told stories of our childhood. We cried and held each other as we missed you and are still realing from our loss. We did the impossible today, we laid you to rest. I can't imagine what tomorrow and the after that, and the day after that etc etc will be like without you. I miss you mom. Love Anne.

Mother, you always said when you got to Heaven you wanted to be able to tell St Peter you did your best in raising your 7 children.   I think God will be pleased.  You will always be remembered with much love for your wonderful sense of humor and thoughtful ways.  You certainly knew how to throw a great party and have a good time.  Family gatherings will never be the same without you but I am sure the stories will bring smiles to our faces as well as tears to our eyes.  You told us a million times how much you loved each of us.  I know that to be true.  God bless and keep you my dear mother.

God bless you Mom. I can't imagine life without you here. Your strength, wisdom, humor and love always showed how much you loved and cared for your family. You always made being together fun, from trips to the zoo, vacations to the beach, house hunting you name it and you were able to put a positive spin on it. When I was young, Fran became my mother-in-law.  She was very instrumental in helping me become Catholic.  Jim and I went to church with her and Dad every Sunday.  She gave me my first Rosary when I was confirmed.  She was always sweet and kind to me throughout the years.  Three squeezes mean "I love you" and four squeezes mean "I love you, too".  Ask any Smith child or grandchild what three squeezes is and they can tell you. Three squeezes mom and may the angels hold you in their arms.

When I was little, mom would often take me to the San Diego zoo, as we walked to see the gorilla named Albert she would gently squeeze my hand 3 times and tell me that the squeezes were code for “I love you” and I would respond with 3 squeezes back. Throughout the years mother would always be there smiling with encouragement, support and 3 squeezes. 
If you ask any of my 6 siblings they will each have many similar stories of how mother could make you feel like the most important person ever. 
The truth is, Mom, you were the most important person ever. I miss you, 3 big squeezes.
