Frankie Eason Shirley Gatlin, 98, died June 19, 2026. Born August 25, 1927, in Winnsboro, Texas, Frankie was the daughter of George Augustus Shirley and Julia Mary Ann Carden. Frankie was raised in Perryville, Texas, and attended Union Hill High School in 1946.
Frankie built a steady and faithful life marked by constancy, care for others, and deep devotion. She worked as an accounting clerk at Praetorian Insurance for more than 30 years, serving with reliability and quiet diligence. She lived almost 99 years, and in that long life she became, to those who knew her, a truly dependable presence—someone friends and family could count on, someone who was simply there when it mattered.
In 1949, Frankie married Glen Lloyd Gatlin and together they had one child. In her spare time, she found joy in church, cooking, traveling to East Texas, and spending as much time with friends and family as she could—especially in the treasured role of grandmother. Her love for her church, Bethel Baptist, and for God remained a guiding light throughout her life.
Frankie was preceded in death by George Augustus Shirley, Julia Mary Ann Carden Shirley, Bronzie Shirley, Joe Shirley, Faye Shirley, Dan Shirley, Lenabee Shirley, George Shirley, and Baby Shirley.
She is survived by her Daughter, Julia Gatlin Stone; her Grandsons, Dustin Williams and Derrek Stone; her Granddaughter, Shayla Stone; and her Son-in-law, Roy Stone.
Visitation will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228, on June 25, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Grove Hill Funeral Home on June 25, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
