Frankye Jean Cox

Frankye Jean "Dinkye" Cox was born in Chicago, IL to Katherine Echols and Frank Wallace on June 8, 1944. She attended Parker High School in Chicago, IL. IN 1960 she met William Ellen and of this union two children were born (Louwanna and William). After high school, she worked for the Chicago Park District. IN 1967 Jean married Otis Lee Ward, Jr. and they moved to Dallas, TX. Of this union two children were born (Valetta and Michele). She was a member of “The Concerned Parents of Turnkey Estates”, where she participated in lobbying for extended bus service to the Bishop College area. Jean was also a Girl Scout Leader in the Bishop College Area, Dallas, TX. Jean had a passion for numbers and returned to school at El Centro College, in Dallas, TX to earn a certificate in Accounting. She was also a Payroll Clerk at Wilmer Hutchins School District until she retired in 2006. On February 14, 1985 she married Thomas Cox of Dallas, TX who she ultimately devoted her life to. Jean accepted Christ as her Savior many years ago and was united with Memorial. Missionary Baptist Church, Peaceful Zion Baptist Church, Beth Eden Baptist Church; and then she joined and served to the end as an active member in the Choir and on the Hospitality Committee at Christian Stronghold Church, all in Dallas, TX. Her Mother and Father; brother Lester Brannon; sister Judy Lee; son Silas Ward; her grandson Tramel Ward preceded Jean in death. Jean’s loving and fond memories will be cherished by her family: husband, Thomas Cox, Dallas, TX; her beloved children, Ernest Ward, Dallas, TX; Orrin Ward (Sherri), Heartland, TX; Louwanna Pope (Lee), Murphy,TX; William Ward (Roshunda), Pittsburg, CA; Valetta Ward (DeMarcus), Mesquite, TX; Michele Oliver, Dallas, Texas; Cornelius Ellen (Kimi), Chicago, IL; Markus Ellen (Kele), Orland Park, IL; Bert Cox, Garland, TX; Patrice Dove, Garland, TX; two brothers, Donald Brannon (Marion), Chicago, IL and Gregory Wallace (Edwena), Chicago, IL; four sisters, Rilla Wanda Jordan, Quincy, IL; Edna Raja, Bellflower, CA; Marguerite Vivirit, Calumet City, IL and; Mary Thomas, Dallas, TX; her dearly loved grandchildren, Eric Ward; LaKetha Ward; Kamicka Jackson; Datreon Bradfield; DaKetha Ward; Cassandra Pope; Darnishika Ward; Trimeka Ward; William Ward Jr.; Antonio Cox; Carlisha Harper (Ti’Dedric); D’Markus Sutton; Kierra Ward; Tonjanique Evans; Leandra Pope; Tiarra Cox; Mariesol Morrow; LaDarius Ward; Shakur Morrow; Siboney Morrow; Jalen Mitchell. Her pride and joy were her great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
