Fred Leroy Gharis Jr.

Fred L. Gharis, Jr., age 85, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on June 7, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to Fred L. Gharis, Sr. and Dorothy Collins Gharis. Fred was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1956. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and was an AT 1 in the Vietnam war for 11 years. He then married Ernestine Connell in 1959 and the couple had three children. Fred was a computer programmer who owned and founded Dental Plan, Inc. where he worked for more than 15 years.

In his spare time, Fred enjoyed playing golf, traveling, boating, motorhoming, gardening and playing bridge. His family and friends will always remember Fred as a loving husband, father, brother and son with a sense of humor.

Fred is preceded in death by his father, Fred L. Gharis, Sr.; mother, Dorothy Collins Gharis and brother-in-law, Harry Morris. Left to cherish his life is his wife of 64 years, Ernestine "Ernie" Connell Gharis; sons, William Gharis, Sr. and wife, Susan, Robert Gharis and wife, Cathy; daughter, Cynthia (Gharis) Bender and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Will Gharis and wife, Vienna Le, Kayla (Bender) Ayeni and husband, Rere, Joshua Gharis, Caroline Gharis, Holly (Bender) Brubaker and husband, Daniel, Jonathan Gharis and wife, Shelsea, Aaron Bender, Jacob Gharis, Laura Bender, Joseph Gharis and Daniel Gharis; great-grandchildren, Tatum Brubaker and Emery Brubaker and his sister Kay Morris.

A visitation for Fred will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A committal service will occur Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228.
