Mr. Gary Lee Smart

Gary Lee Smart, age 71, long time resident and business owner of Duncanville, Texas passed away on Tuesday August 15, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. Gary was born on September 27, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to the parents of Bob & Edith Smart.

Gary is a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army from October 1966 through November 1968. He received several commendations and medals during his deployment, The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Gary met his sweetheart, Brenda K. Mays, in the summer of 1964, and on their first date, he told her they would be married. He was right as usual; they were married on March 13, 1965. To this union one child was born named, Ingrin.

In 1975, Gary & Brenda opened their own business, Discount Trophy and Awards Shop of Duncanville, Texas. For many years Discount Trophy & Awards has served the DFW metroplex area with the finest trophy and award products to various businesses, churches, and organizations. Gary loved spending time with his family and friends and living life to its fullest.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Bob Smart; two brother-in-laws; Jerry Mays and James Bernard; one sister-in-law: June LeFlore; one niece: Celeste Blalock-Kidd.

Gary leaves to cherish his memories and legacy: his beloved wife of 52 years, Brenda K. Smart; his loving mother, Edith Blackburn; one daughter, Ingrin Untersee and husband Jeff Untersee; two grandchildren, Will and Tanner Lively; one brother, Alan Smart and wife Ruth Smart; sister-in-law, Gloria Nelson; and host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; and MANY friends, especially the gang from the Golf Club of Dallas. Gary will be greatly missed by all.
