

Gean Smith passed away on August 29, 2012 at the age of 74 years old after a long and courageous battle with cancer and went to his heavenly home. Gean was born to True and Audrey Smith in Randolph, Texas at home on February 3, 1938. Gean attended and graduated from North Dallas High School, completed some college course work and was drafted and served in the US Army along with his twin brother Dean for two years during the Berlin Wall crisis. He married Edith Laurene Moore on May 22, 1964. They were happily married for 48 years and she cared for him throughout his illness with determination and compassion. In his career as a successful Manufacturer’s Representative, Gean founded Smith Seasonal Sales and had a showroom in the World Trade Center of Dallas for over 30 years. Gean worked hard and played hard. He loved life and had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. An avid golfer, Gean played many famous courses around the world and was a member of the Golf Club of Dallas. In his free time he loved to read and collected rare coins and fountain pens. He traveled extensively for business and pleasure including numerous trips overseas to Europe and Asia. Gean was generous with his time, talents and treasures. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. Gean’s passion was influencing others (particularly youth), to take advantage of the many opportunities available to them. He gave generously (and anonymously) to numerous charities. Gean is survived by his wife Edith, his daughters Stephanie Jones and Shannon Casey (Dan), his twin grandsons Garrett and Logan Jones, his granddaughter Miranda Jones, his twin granddaughters Katie and Courtney Casey, his brother Jack Smith (Margaret), his twin brother Dean Smith (Judy) and many loving friends, colleagues and admirers. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church at 9845 McCree Road, Dallas, Texas.
