

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7. George Marcus Bryant, loving husband, amazing father and grandfather, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 20, 2021 in Dallas after a courageous battle with Lewy body dementia.
Marc was born on August 27, 1944, in Abilene, Texas, the eldest son of Dr. George Calvin Bryant, Jr. and Novella Dodson Bryant. He graduated from Waco High School in 1962 and was awarded a full scholarship to play football at Texas Tech University. A four-year letterman in football, Marc served as tri-captain his senior year and was a member of the Double T Letterman’s Association and Alpha Delta Sigma business fraternity. Marc graduated from Texas Tech in 1967 with a BBA in Marketing and Advertising and earned an MBA from the University of Dallas in 1971.
Marc owned and operated Marc Bryant Associates, a publishers’ representative firm, for 20 years. He later was the public relations and marketing director for First State Bank in Mesquite, from which he retired in 2013.
A lifelong Baptist, Marc served as a deacon, Sunday school director, and board member of the Downtown Pregnancy Center. He was known for his passion for missions and prayer. Marc attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years, where he served as a discussion leader. He also enjoyed coaching his sons’ football and soccer teams and volunteered as crime watch chairman for his Lake Highlands neighborhood.
Marc is survived by his college sweetheart and loving wife of 56 years, Dianne Brown Bryant; his children, Jeffrey Marcus Bryant, Jennifer Bryant Shelmire and husband David, and George Matthew Bryant and wife Jennifer; his grandchildren, Libby Shelmire, Sutton Shelmire, Emma Bryant and Grace Bryant; and his sister, Betty Bryant Goodwin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, DeWitt Clinton Brown; his mother-in-law, Jewell Reynolds Brown; and his brother, Jerry Calvin Bryant.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in Truett Chapel of First Baptist Church, 1707 San Jacinto, Dallas TX 75201, with a reception immediately following.
His family thanks their many friends who loved and supported them during Marc’s illness, his doctors at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and his wonderful caregivers.
